Drawing Scanning
Every Drawing Office Manager knows that older drawings kept on
paper or film in plan chests take up enormous amounts of space, and drawings can
all too easily become damaged, lost or misfiled. Drawings, plans and maps up
to 36” wide and almost any reasonable length can easily be scanned to a PDF or
TIFF file in black and white.
The scanner utilises the image enhancing software of the plan
printers to give excellent results. The scanned images can also be sent direct
to our printers, like plot files, for easy reproduction.
Case study: In 2008 we have scanned over
2000 drawings on behalf of a London hospital. This has enabled them to clear
seven drawing cabinets, freeing up an entire room that was previously only
used for storage. It also allows them to locate any drawing easily and most
importantly captured the information before the prints deteriorated. Some record
drawings were over twenty years old and required all of the scanner's image
enhancement tools to salvage the image. (Some just needed invisible tape and
TLC!)
Large Format Colour Scanning
In response to the increased use of colour in AEC and CAD
drawings, we have invested in a new wide format colour scanner.
By linking a 40" wide colour scanner to our
existing high speed plotter, we have created a large format, colour copy system
suitable not only for AEC and CAD drawings, but also for posters and display
graphics.
We can scan colour drawings to tif, pdf or jpeg.
We offer a vectorisation service to enable
drawings to be scan into CAD compatible formats.
